fuckyeahtattoos: This is my first tattoo, it is a Raven that is made out of a cathedral. The tattoo is a Raven because it is my favorite animal, and many people see Ravens as a “bad” animal. So I found a version of it as a cathedral, and got my friend to tweak it. The whole tattoo is meant to represent how good and bad are meant to work together to reach a middle ground.

We let Willow cut her hair. When you have a little girl, it’s like how can you teach her that you’re in control of her body? If I teach her that I’m in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she’s going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world. She can’t cut my hair but that’s her hair. She has got to have command of her body. So when she goes out into the world, she’s going out with a command that it is hers. She is used to making those decisions herself. We try to keep giving them those decisions until they can hold the full weight of their lives.

I wasn’t literally asking for you to kill me based on my choice of clothing. Who would take that defense seriously? My friends wouldn’t blame me for being murdered and my killer would be behind bars almost instantly. So, why is it okay to rape someone because they’re wearing promiscuous clothes? Why does THEIR choice of clothing excuse THEIR attacker? It doesn’t. You’re silly if you think otherwise. The less guilt on the attacker. The more guilt on victim. Stop. Victim. Blaming. Holy fuck. This guy gets it.  Yep. Damn Right. Yup. Spot on. I hate the suggestion that there’s some mysterious amount of flesh which once displays causes a man to lose control of his ability to not rape someone. What I find particularly disturbing about that idea is that it implies that men are constantly fighting the urge to rape. That men are naturally and instinctively rapists and that women covering themselves up is the only thing that can possibly keep their urges under control. That is just plain bullshit…if you’re a man and you ever find yourself struggling with the urge to rape then you are mentally ill and you need to seek help.

A little backstory to this clip before you watch it:

Will Smith’s father abandoned him and his mother when he was a child, and when Will was finally getting into show business and making a name for himself, he tried to sneak his way back into his life like nothing happened. Will co-wrote this episode, and James Avery (Uncle Phil) said “this scene was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to shoot in my life. Every emotion, every word.. that was Will”

Will was actually supposed to play it off and then walk away, and there was originally an alternate scene that was supposed to happen, but he actually completely cut out what was supposed to be said, and did all of his own dialogue. The hug at the end of this scene is completely genuine, and this was a stepping stone in Will’s career where he started to take on the “do what feels, sounds, and looks right” approach to his acting.
